Nfuse & TS licenses

Hi,

While I asked before regarding TS licenses & their brilliant "per machine" license scheme, I just thought I would ask this question.

Doesn't Microsoft's licensing for Terminal Services cripple Nfuse's purpose? I thought one of the things that made Citrix's Nfuse so great was the ability to log on anywhere, anytime, a user had internet access! Unfortunately, it seems this isn't really the case, as everytime now equates to an $80 service charge to Microsoft...

For example, we have travelling agents; Nfuse seemed great, as if they were in Hawaii on vacation, travelling across country, at relatives for the holidays, whatever; if there was a computer with Net access, they could do some work if they choose.

However, this isn't really much of an option if everytime they log in they grab a TS license from the server. Now, permanent licenses have been taken (again) by a computer who-knows-where; and new employees who NEED to work from home cannot, because their allocated license is on Aunt Betty's PC in Orlando.

Is there any way for me to make sure that permanent licenses get issued to specific machines I approve? This wouldn't be such a problem if the licenses weren't assigned on a "first-come, first-serve" basis. Then Aunt Betty could have a temp license, etc.....

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

I had the same problem at one time. Stop and disable the License Logging Service per the Citrix MetaFrame for Windows Servers - Installation and Tuning Tips (2000 Citrix Systems, Inc.). The tuning tips provided help speed network performance and eliminated the problem you are now experiencing on my server.
