I have 2 Rs/6000’s both of which have exported file systems and have remote mounts connected between the two.
I am able to mount the nfs from Server B to Server A, but I am unable to mount from Server A to server B.
I get the following error message when attempting the mount:
mount: 1831-010 server B not responding: RPC: 1832-008 Timed out
nfsmnthelp: 1831-019 B: A remote host did not respond within the timeout period
Both Server are up and running correctly. Name resolution is also working fine. I ran lssrc –g nfs on both servers and received the following response on both:
Subsystem Group PID Status
biod nfs 10324 active
nfsd nfs 10072 active
rpc.mountd nfs 10586 active
rpc.statd nfs 9836 active
rpc.lockd nfs 11102 active

Does anyone have any suggestions? What should I be looking for?

Thanks…..Mark

Try this:

Telnet to the server and log in as root.

cd to the /etc directory

Enter stopsrc -g nfs.

Enter stopsrc -s portmap.

Enter rm -rf state sm sm.bak xtab rmtab.

Enter startsrc -s portmap.

Enter startsrc -g nfs.

Enter exportfs -a.

showmount -e servername.

Thanks!! That sloved my problem....

Mark
