Hello,

I am trying to mount a volume from a server in version 4.2 to a server in version 5.2. The error message is :

mount: access denied for ripro1:/dataVolumes/ripro1.4.0
mount: giving up on:
ripro1:/dataVolumes/ripro1.4.0
Permission denied

I have verify the settings of /etc/exports (on the 4.2 server) and /etc/filesystems (on the 5.2 server). Everything is well configured.

I have recreated the mount point on the 5.2 server and changed permission, user and group accordingly. Still the same error message.

The same volume is mounted without problem on a 4.3.3 server.

I have used showmount to verify the export of the 4.2 server and it is correct:
/dataVolumes/ripro1.4.0 (everyone)

I would like to verify nfs version used but I don't where to look for that.

Thanks to help me.

How did you export your filesystem on the 4.3.3? (which options )

greetz,

R.

It is exported without any particular options (no flag):

/dataVolumes/ripro1.4.0

Here is a sample of the /etc/filesystems (from the 5.2 server) :

/dataVolumes/ripro1.4.0:
dev = "/dataVolumes/ripro1.4.0"
vfs = nfs
nodename = ripro1
mount = true
type = nfs
options = bg,soft,intr,retry=3
account = false

(the hosts file is correct)

I really don't think it is a permission problem. It could be a nfs version problem. Do you know where to verify this?

Thanks

Hello all. I hoping you can help me out with an nfs issue I am having. I have an AIX system running 5.1 (sys1) and another that is running 5.2 (sys2). When I run:
mount sys2:/tmp /mnt
it comes back with:
NFS server sys2 not responding still trying
However, I can ping and ssh between the 2 systems. Any ideas on what the problem is? Thanks for all your help.

telnet from the nfs client system to the nfs server system

login with any user account and type

who am i

this may give you an idea what IP address the NFS server system sees for the NFS client system. You may have to export the filesystem for the hostnames of all the IP addresses the client system is running. I get these kind of problems with NFS clients that run different IP aliases on their network interfaces...

I crossmount between 4.3 and 5L all the time (not 4.2 though)

gr.
