I have Samba up and running, and I can map a drive from my XP machine to the Linux machine. However, if I try to write to the Samba share I get access denied. I tried setting up the smb.conf so that it would authenicate against the sam on my XP machine (gateway1), but when I try that it tells me that the username or password is unknown. I have verified that the user name exists on both the XP and Linux machine, and the password is correct. Here is my smb.conf:
[global]
workgroup = HOME
server string = FTPWEB1 linux server
netbios name = FTPWEB1
security = server
password server = gateway1
[ftp]
comment = ftp space
path = /home/ftp
writeable = yes
guest ok = yes
I also tried it without using user authentication (removed the password server line and changed the security line to = share). However, if I do that I can browse the shares on the linux box but I cannot write to them. On the /home/ftp directory I did set it to RW access.
Thanks!
Sean
