Hi,

i recently purchased an Asus CUSL2 mainboard, as replacement for the defected one I had.

Now, I installed the mainboard into my case, and ran into a problem.. The usual PANEL on which the Power, Swith, Speaker etc. cables are connected, doesn't seem to exist on the mainboard.

Instead of this, I did find something called VPANEL.

This however is not noted in any Asus CUSL2 documentation I found on Asus' website. I have been googling around, and found out the board I purchased is a so called OEM board, used by Dell/Compaq etcetera. That's also the reason I didn't find any documentation on the VPANEL.

Does anyone have any idea how I can solve this issue?
Is there for instance some kind of adapter cable?

Thanks in advance.

Dennis

I got the above using the search below:

Its been my experience that I have been able to simply make educated guesses with this issue. I take a screwdriver and usually touch first 2 pins on each end to see if the motherboard will boot. Once i find the 2 pins that make it boot (power on\off, the reset button is usually close by or across from the power on\off. Eventually i get it all right by trial and error. Often the speaker pins are 4 in a row and often there is one pin missing right beside where the 4 speaker pins are, but not always. I have done it this way so many times that i just dont worry about damaging the motherboard. Just giving you my own personal experience, others may disagree.

One thing, though, that concerns me the most. a lot more than your original question. Some Dell branded mobos have proprietary setups for the power supply connections. The connection looks the same but its not, its wired differently from standard. And, if it is a proprietary mobo and you use a standard power supply you WILL damage the mobo. Again, i would think this issue is more important. Perhaps you can find some markings on the mobo and google them, find out which mfgr this board originally went to.

SO just plug the V-Panel in.

V-Panel has a plug on the motherboard go to asus and download the manual for the motherboard on PDF.

I have heard of it because I have a TUSL2-C, which is similar but for later PIII (Tulatin)Processors.

I was under the impression that the V-Panel was an add-on or an accessory. I had heard the cable is not that long and might not work in some taller cases.

If you do not like my post feel free to point out your opinion or my errors.

Thanks both for your reply!
I googled a bit more, and found the info I needed on a German website. Someone already found out the VPANEL, and was so nice to share his findings:
