Am I missing something with respect to Aspect's newilne? According to the help `r is newline and `n is carriage return, but these don't work either singly or in pairs for me. This makes my capture (which I use as log files) files unnecessarily hard to read. I've also tried ^M and ^J to no avail. What's left? Hex values?

BTW, I am running 4.8.

A typical command would be:

capturestr "Dial failed -- no carrier `r"

but I get no newline in my capture file.

Thanks in advance.

I was able to use capturestr with either `r or `n and saw the expected characters when viewing the capture file in a hex viewer. I assume the rest of the text in the capturestr command is showing up correctly? Are you doing any file operations on the capture file after the capture has been stopped?

No, I'm not doing anything to the file.

BUT, I'm not using a hex viewer, either. AHA! I just tried using WordPad and saw exactly what I was expecting.

Thanks a bunch!
Dave
