My company is getting Cisco CallManager and Unity this summer. I want to go ahead try to read some Cisco books. Any good updated books? For 5.0 version?

I search at Ciscopress and found these interesting books:

Configuring CallManager and Unity: A Step-by-Step Guide, By David Bateman., Published: Jun 7, 2005

Or

Cisco Unity Fundamentals, By Brian Morgan, Moises Gonzalez., Published: Jun 13, 2006
Cisco CallManager Fundamentals, Adobe Reader, 2nd Edition, By John Alexander, Chris Pearce, Anne Smith, Delon Whetten., Published: Jun 13, 2006

But these books were published on 2005-2006 and I believe it discuss Cisco CallManager 4.1 or older versions.

Now, I believe Cisco is at CallManager 5.0 and it is using Linux based server instead of Windows 2k.

Do you all think these books would be a great help even though they are discussing different versions of CallManager?

Thank you for your opinions.

I actually have the one you mention

Configuring CallManager and Unity: A Step-by-Step Guide, By David Bateman., Published: Jun 7, 2005

This is all related to CCM 4.X and Unity 4.X. No CCM 5 or Unity connection.

A lot of the underlining topics are in there, and it is a good book to have, but will not cover new CCM or unity Connection features. You may want to have a look at the administration guides.

for CCM

For Unity

Thank you, That would help.

Is it totally different between CM 5 and 4 or Unity connection and 4?

GUI is different on both. Many more features in call manager 5. If you were familiar with 4 then five will just be some more features tacked on.

Unity connection is the same thing. GUI is different, more features. You dont need exchange with connection because the message store is on-box as part of unity.
