Hello All,

I'am new to MicroStrategy and got hold off one evaluation copy. I'am trying to do dept productivity report which i dunno how to accomplish in MS.

I have a table which contains details of employees assigned to each project, which may vary time to time, but a employee will be assigned to only one project at a time. How do i get department wise count of employees( employee's latest assignment and not old ones ) assigned to each project. I should get Depts as rows and projects on the column and count of employees in the body. One more thing I should be able to do the report for a given period because the management might look to see the productivity for a given month or as on date.

Many a thanks

to find the latest employee assigment, you need to use the method described in the following thread:
thread395-284278 you need an "ending on hand" employee status. This means you need to model a time dimension into the employee table. Something like assigment_date will do. THen for a given period you create a simple filter with begin and end date.

nlim,

thanks for your answer. i do have assignment date but i basically use assignment no to find the employees latest assigned project. how will that "ending on hand" logic work here as given in the other thread. how do i get the count of employees on a specified project with that "ending on hand". how to accomplish that?:-(

i'm terribly sorry. i'm new to this tool and if some one could help me i would really appreciate it.

million thanks in advance
