Hi all

Newbie here.

I am trying to show % complete values as graphical RAGG indicators - please could someone help? I have managed to work out how to put the circles in and also how to lift the percentage complete value - I just can't seem to apply conditions to the figure after that, i.e, under 45, red circle etc.

Many thanks
Kyle

Hi Kyle,

I would first need to know which version of Microsoft Project you are working with. Graphical indicators function a bit differently between 2003 and 2007.

Secondly, I could help you set this up, but I must say that traditionally the RAG Indicators are used to portray status. Traditionally, R (red) means the task or project is off track, or late. If you have a task that shows 20% Complete, what if this task is actually ahead of schedule? Would you really want to show the graphical indicator as red if the original plan only called for you to be 10% Complete at this point in time?
Just curious!!

Hi JBlack

Thanks for this, I am using 2003.

To be honest I am using Project more as a task list. As said, I can do the other bit I describe but would like to offer my manager the other option and let him pick which one he would like?

Thanks in advance.

Kyle

OK...If you insist...Here we go!!...
1. Insert Text1
2. Right click on Text1 column heading, then click on Customize Fields
3. Ensure Text1 is selected and click on Rename
4. Type in "RAG", click on OK.
5. Click on Formula and type in [% Complete]
6. For "Calculation for task..." enable Formula
7. Click on Graphical Indicators
8. Ensure "NonSummary Rows" is enabled
9. In the first row under Test for "RAG", click on the dropdown and select "Is greater than"
10. In the Values column, input 74 (or whatever your break point is)
11. In the Graphical Indicators column, select the Green circle
12. In the second row under Test for "RAG", click on the dropdown and select "Is less than or equal to"
13. In the Values column, input 45
14. In the Graphical Indicator column, select the Red circle
15. In the third row under Test for "RAG", click on the dropdown and select "Is greater than"
16. In the Values column, input 45
17. In the Graphical Indicators column, select the Yellow circle
18. Click on OK and OK again.

That should do it!

Please let us know if that works!
