Alright I know BASICS of flash and I'm making a new site and would like to do this layout for my art page. I would like to have my drawings as little boxes on the left hand side on the screen and when clicked would enlarge and glide to the space in the right side. The drawings are saved as .jpg, but I can convert them to other files if it's necessary. I know this sounds like a lot but I would REALLY appreciate some help, thanks....

yes, it is a lot. i will give you some hints:
-select your picture, press F8 to turn it into a graphic symbol.
-do this with all pictures.
-open the Library, and drag every symbol onto the stage to its beginning position.
-use a seperate layer for every picture.
-ad 20 frames in all layers.
-click in frame 20 of every layer, and press F6. (insert keyframe)
-now, still in frame 20, drag the images to the place you want them in the end.
-click in frame 1, open Frame panel, and select Tween: motion.
-make an invisible button. (only define hit-frame with a filled rectangle)
-drag the button over every image.
-put a stop action in frame 20 and frame 1.
-put a play action on the buttons.

Alright thanks I have a couple more questions though:
1) how do you make an invisible button?
2) i want to have it set up to where when you click it, it moves and maximizes then once you click the maximized moved version it goes back to it's original size and position.

You should first think out all of your concept!
Should a copy of the thumbnail stay small while the other expands? If so, would clicking on a second thumbnail, first close the expanded one, before expanding the new one? Etc... Etc...

This is one way of doing it:
No preloader on this, so give it time to load!

You can download the .fla here:

As for an invisible button, Zom did answer your question:
...only define hit-frame with a filled rectangle
Draw a filled rectangle on it's own layer over the picture, convert it to a symbol with a button's behavior, than copy & paste that rectangle shape in the hit state and delete it from the other states.
