I am trying to transfer my database over (from a remote location)from one pervasive sql server to another. I originally just copied the entire folder, which didn't work. My next thought was to use my pcanywhere connection, write a crystal report, export it to access and then converting it to sql. Will this work and if so could anyone give me some tips on how to go about this. Thank you in advance.

If you're just moving the data, you should be able to just copy from one server to another. You said it "didn't work", what was the error? Also, are you the Btrieve or the ODBC side of things? mirtheil@mirtheil.com

Sorry about the vaugeness of my description. All i did was copy the folder over, I didn't have any problems with that. My problem lies in macola's erp software. I am trying to figure out how to extract that data that i copied over. I hope that explains my situation a little better. Thanks for the help

It really doesn't help. What kind of errors are you seeing? What are you trying to extract it with? What format do you want to extract it to? mirtheil@mirtheil.com

Basically I am trying to test our disaster recovery. I set up another machine with pervasive and copied over the files and I think that is where my problem is, because I am missing some of the tables. My hunch was that the problem was due to the fact that I only copied the folder and did not use data extraction. Does that help at all? Thanks for your patience and the help.

...After that post I thought of something...maybe I conveyed it wrong. I think I should use the word export instead of extract, because that is what I really want to due. Oracle, etc. all have the export tool, but I am not seeing that with pervasive, and that is where my problem lies. Thanks.

There is an Export Wizard with Pervasive.SQL 2000 in the Pervasive COntrol Center. It can export to SDF or CSV. If you are a programmer, you can write an application that exports the data into any format you want.
