Newbie - Moving Columns?

Hi guys,

I just saw a video tutorial where the teacher moves around columns just by drawing them. It is a very useful feature to create dynamic formats but I cannot do it on my documents. Are they locked or should I press some key combination to move them freely?

Any help?

...you need to unlock column guides if this is what you are refering to...

...go to view > guides & grids > lock column guides to turn them off if there is a tick next to the option...

...then with the selection tools you can move the guides about, this is done on master pages or on the pages of your document...
