Hi:

I have recently started to use linux, i.e. started today :)

I have downloaded Mozill Firebird to /MozillaFirebird

I unzipped the bzip2 file with " bzip2 - cd thunder*|tar xv"

Now I have the folder "thunderbird" - with a number of files in it.

What should I do next to install firebird?

Its already installed, just run the "MozillaFirebird" executable.

fyi, in Linux, a common place to store an application like this is in the /usr/local/ directory. Mine is located in /usr/local/MozillaFirebird/.

Why would it be better to store it at /usr/local ?

Would this be because of better house keeping?

Thanks.

If you have problems with MozillaFirebird not launching for users (probably ones who have already run 'mozilla'), check out this thread. A pretty hard-to-find glitch the poster eventually found. Could save some headache ;-)
