Hi there everyone, I'm not sure if this topic is the right place to say all this but I'm still very new in this field and would love to get the help from everyone who has been the longest in this field in the future.

My specialization will be related to Avaya systems. I'm not sure which type of services I will be assigned to since I've only started this things for 3 weeks. So far I was assigned to a place where we are using Site Admin (ASA) to handle stations and are using CM servers.

Have a good day everyone.

Welcome. Enjoy the ride!

Use the Search button at the top of the forum to find specific topics or key words. There is a TON of information in this forum. Some of it may be a little old but you'll definitely find something. If you read up and still don't understand, then post a new question and be specific - the more information the better. Don't be surprised if someone links back to a previous post that covers that topic.

When you do get into Communication Manager and are at the command prompt, use the Help feature (F5) to list out what commands are available. Then, use Help after the specific command. For example, "list [F5]" will then show all the items you can list out, such as "list trunk-group", "list station", etc. F5 is your very best friend.

You can use abbreviated commands in CM. try "li" instead of "list". Basically, you need just enough letters to make the command unique. "Disp" works for "Display" but "Dis" does not since other commands start with those three letters.

The three big CM commands are "List", "Display", and "Change". "List station" will list out all stations. "Display station xxxx" will show the details about a specific station (where xxxx is the station extension). "Change station xxxx" will open up the station form and allow you to make changes. I encourage you to use "display" when viewing an item and not "Change" since the change command can lock other users out of running commands on the server. Only use "change" when actively updating something, then save your work and exit ([F3] to Enter).

Hi @ZeroZeroOne, thank you for the warm welcome and the CM command tips. I really appreciate it!! That will be so helpful for me in the future. And tbh i didnt think of looking for old posts but that will be a great help so thank you for pointing that out :D
