newbie - how to set up exchange 2K to automatically redirect e-mails

i have just set a LAN with 25 users under 1 domain controller, i am quite new to domain networking, i am running win2k server and exchange 2000 with outlook 2000 on each terminal.

i have a pop3 account with an ISP which is set up fine as outlook sends and receives e-mail on the server fine, but i have no idea how to forward the incommin mail to each user on the network, i have tried the rules option but it doesn't seem to work, the only rule that seems to work is the e-mail forwarding one that identifies individual words in the recipients address. please help!

Generally in the configureation you have mentioned, you need to use a POP3 connector with Exchange. What this does is retrieve email from pop3 accounts and send them to a designated mail-enabled user in Active Directory. Microsoft gives you one in their Small Business Server 2K but it appears you are not using that. You can do a search but from past experience, such pop3 connectors are usually expensive. Perhaps spme newer, cheaper (free?) connectors have come which other members here can point you to.

cheers, thought that might be the case, we have a copy of Mdaemon in the office, do you suppose that would work? sorry about the lack of knowledge but i was kinda forced into this job when my boss was fired!!!

From what I've heard of Mdaemon, it actually is a Mail server program, ie it competes with Exchange not integrate with it - however it does pop3 from memory. Check your version and licensing and mdaemon's website or reseller for the latest version and a manual and education (have no idea how easy it is to setup so tis a big learning curve for you perhaps)

Appears to be a good program. However, it only works if you have configured your pop3 email at your ISP's end to all go to the one pop3 mailbox. This mailbox is then accesed by the EFS program mentioned above which distributes the emails to Exchange receipients based on the address in the TO: CC: and BCC: fields.
If you have configured separate pop3 mailboxes for each user in your organisation, this program does not appear to be the solution unless you change to a "catch-all" pop3 account.

To use multiple POP3 retrievals, use PopCon, works a charm, includes optional antivirus too.
It is not free, but well worth the money!

I will also vouch for popcon, excellent piece of software which I used a long time ago as an intermediary to catch mail whilst swapping MX records.

If you have a static IP it would be better to look at SMTP delivery but realise this may not be an option
