Hello, I am a newbie when it comes to Linux/Fedora, and we recently had our Linux server installed in our office. I would like to bind the two gigabit ethernet ports to speed up our network. There is a "workdrive" share where our documents and work is stored and a "database" share where we have our databases and email, etc.

I am wondering if this is possible, and how I would do it. I would like to know if it would be best to have one port for each share or bind them together to serve both shares or even to make one incoming and one outgoing.

Any advise would be wonderful, and step by step instructions would be best since I am completely new to Linux...be kind!! :)

Google for "driver bonding" in Linux. That will allow you to use both NICs as a single interface. The only problem is that your equipment on the other side needs to be able to accept connections from bonded interfaces. So it may be a useless option.

You'll have to configure your kernel to accept bonding support.
