Good Afternoon,
TO begin , I know nothing about routers. But I have a CISCO 3630 I need to figure out basic functions by tomorrow morning. I have it powered up and connected to a stand alone PC. Is there a default IP, how do I connect up to it? Thanks.

This may be a little late but....

OK, to connect to the router in the first place, you need a console cable, this will plug into the com port of your PC at one end, and at the other end it will plug into the console port of the router, the run hyperterminal from windows and change the connection port to com1, connect to the router at 9600kbps and leave the other settings as default. once the white screen comes up press enter to get the command prompt, hopefully it won't be passworded at log-on, if it is there's a way round but we won't work on that yet, type 'ena' to enable the router, this is 'user mode' to go into config mode type 'conf t' (configure terminal) this is 'global mode', to show the current config type 'sho run' this will list the interfaces on the router that are in use and their current IP addresses. if you need help on the menu simply type '?' at any point to show a list of available commands. They're a little too complicated to work out on your own really but hope this gives you a headstart.
