We've been using xp for a couple of months now and using the file synch. Recently we upgraded to an active server directory and assigned new ids and a new domain. One of my users was away on business while this happened. He is back in the office and logged on using his new id and can't find his offline files. He made multiple changes to the offline files. We also renamed the servers. Does anyone know where XP puts the offline files on the laptop, is there anyway to get to them other than using synchronization manager.
Thanks
Mandy

- Open a Windows Explorer session (the file explorer not the internet explorer).

- Go to Tools -> Options

- Click on the Offline Files tab

- Check the "Create an Offline Files shortcut on the Desktop" box

Now there should be a shortcut on the desktop which will take you to the local copy of the Offline files ... copy the files out of here.

BTW ... I have discovered that XP really does not like it when the remote side of your offline files gets moved or renamed ... you may have difficulty seeing that server from that machine again. Our situation was slightly different so you may not see this issue.

Later ...

Thanks,
I can see the files, I found them when I clicked on synchronize file manager, than properties. But when you try to open, the file (even when not connected to the server) you get an error, unable to find path. We reanamed the server and when the user logged on to the active directory domain, we think all the info for the old server name that was cached was wiped clean. I think the files are still on the machine somewhere, the user has not synched since he logged on because we are afraid he will lose the info stored locally. So we would like to find them and move them manually.
Thanks
