Our 'saved from the trash' BCM has now successfully replaced our ancient Norstar DR1. Many thanks to the help from this forum!
A couple of things still elude me, though:
- every time I open Element Manager, it defaults back to the 10.10.11.1 IP and I have to add the new Network Element IP address for our LAN. Is there a way to save the settings?

- several sets have 24-button CAP/KIM modules attached. It's a toss-up whether it is more tedious to program these from the set or from EM. Is there a way to load them from a text file or spreadsheet? Or even copy from one set to another?

- there are still some old voice mail boxes and some remnants of CCR trees that are resisting my efforts to delete them. Is there a way to reset all of Call Pilot back to factory, and start fresh.

TIA!
Bill

1) Right click on "network element" and click create new.

2) yes you can copy from one to the other. Show the set in EM and clip copy. Show the set you want to copy to, select paste and the select the components you want to paste.

3) log into the voice mail either by browser or through EM portal and select re-install. This will wipe it out without losing any keycodes.

Thanks for the reply.

1) Right click on "network element" and click create new.
That is exactly what I have to do every time I start EM. When I close EM, the new Element is gone.

2) yes you can copy from one to the other. Show the set in EM and clip copy. Show the set you want to copy to, select paste and the select the components you want to paste.
That copies the set, but not the CAP/KIM.

3) log into the voice mail either by browser or through EM portal and select re-install. This will wipe it out without losing any keycodes.
Reinstall worked - the HELP file in Call Pilot explains how to reset by using a phoneset.

Cheers
Bill

1. Sounds like a corrupted install. uninstall and remove then delete .bcm folder.
If still an issue maybe as a workaround create a new folder then create an element from in that folder.

2. You are saying after you copy when you select paste and select the button programming option it does not include the add-on?

3 If I recall you can also go to Backup and restore, restore using the Factory Default option then select Callpilot.

It's best to be using the latest and last version of Element Manager which is available on line at
Make sure that your Java settings are set to high and not very high and that the link I've given you and any access to the BCM system is entered in the list of allowed connections.

David:
That got me a fresh install of EM, and it does save the Element when I close and re-open the program. But when I try to connect to the BCM, I get the message:
"Exception occurred when trying to connect
Detector 'BCMDetector' cannot determine the device type for 192.168.100.130."

2. You are saying after you copy when you select paste and select the button programming option it does not include the add-on?
Yes - that is correct. No difference whether I copy via EM or logging with a phone set.

Ok I kinda thought so but never tried.

Try installing a lower version java like 1.79, leave your current version as is since you can run different versions at the same time.
You can disable or enable each version under the java tab if ever the need.

I am on Win 10, 64 bit with 1.8.0.91...my 1.7.0.79 is disabled though so may last release works on its own.

OK. No worries as the Java is the problem due to the error message that you have and that there is a workaround available that a fellow member released the other week. I have it here if you want to try it out.

...been busy with "work" for a couple of days...

I didn't get anywhere with the Java tinkering.
I found I had on another computer a copy from a few years ago of a BEM Install. That installed easily and is now working great!

Thanks for all the help and suggestions, Guys!

That just leaves me trying to find a nicer way of programming the KIM module.
Any other suggestions??

Cheers!
