I have recently been given a Merlin legend system Release 3.0 from my boss to put into our firehouse. I honestly dont know much about the system but i consider myself fairly smart enough to figure it out. I installed the programming software and was able to connect to the system fine. After running the system for a while i noticed between the power supply and the processor gets extremely hot. I am kinda concerned about this but was wondering if it was normal. None of the units have cooling fans in them. Is it supposed to get this hot?

I'd use Key Mode if your using CO or POTS lines. Then you can assign any CO line to any phone in any order.

I would argue with that 'cause some things are easier to do in HYB-PBX mode, and you can still assign Individual lines to phones.

I too have a small system, it is in Hybrid-PBX mode with only of my 3 lines in a pool, but that works well for me.

Hybrid-PBX tends to provide a bit more flexibility than KEY Mode.

(But remember, I use my system as a Lab machine to simulate things from time to time.)

Alright, I'm having more problems trying to program this system then i thought. It seems way to advaced for what we need. Is there any kind of Easy Set-up Guide or anyone that offers a setup service or anything like that? This forum is great and fast with responses, but i think if i continue to set the system up on this forum it could take a very long time and take up a reat amount of everyones time.

Thanks Dexman...lol ive been reading them non-stop but just some things i can't figure out. For example, some phones ring normally when theres an incoming call from outside, then some ring and have the alert beep. My previous experience with legend systems is that the alert beep only ringson an intercom call. Also, since i changed it to hybrid mode, instead of being able to pick up the phone and get an outside line right away, it connects to the intercom. I've had plenty of experience using these systems, but never programming them. I feel like im really not getting anywhere.

Unlike Partner documents, Merlin Legend & Magix docs are harder to read.

Calls that are transfered from the auto attendant will ring first then beep (1 long & 2 short).

For line selection, take a look at the Legend Feature Reference guide. Page 131/1068 is the one to focus on. [smile]
