Greetings! I'm Scott, new to desktop support in my work. I have 155 pc's with XP to roll out. I'd like users to be only users, not local admins, but I need Outlook 2000, Office (probably 2000) and some other programs to work. I also didn't realize if I install a printer as an admin, the user can't see it later. Sounds like my job got harder. We have a Novell network (though it's day's are numbered), NT4 domain (days numbered too) and we are installing AD.
My question is this, is there a book (or set of books) that I can buy/read to make sense of all this? I'm not a progammer, just a geek at a new job. My boss has also asked about group policies.
Any point in the right direction is greatly appreciated.

Scott

Welcome to the Forum.

Roll out help.

Here's a bit of information, a mountain of it is available via Google, and don't forget Help and Support. I have tried to arrange the links from basic to complex. Hope it helps you.

Thanks Linney! I'll take a look at these and see. In part, we are trying to lock down the desktop to avert some of the nasty viruses (virii?) that roam about.
