Hi All,

I have seen a functionality in SQL Server 2008 r2 which automatically populates codes in Management Studio as typing...I have seen this on someone else's pc, so intrigued how this is possible...

I am fairly new to SQL Server...

Please can you help....

Many Thanks

Other than intellisense, I have seen third party software. However, I do not remember the company.

In SSMS you can use built-in intellisense, it often automatically expands code (in few cases I'prefer it didn't do it, though, such as XML PATH( and PARTITION BY...

the built in SSMS is a pain to use.
For example, if you wanna type count(*) and you have country as one of the columns or table names it will use that automatically, and will not give count( as an option

Redgate has a very good one, and I would recommend you use this one if you can.
Redgate also has a code formatter that is, from all those I tested, the one with less bugs. (all of them fail on the MERGE statements, but redgate is the only one that can deal with 80% of the merge statement options).
