new to sms please help: query or collection????

I just got handed the responsibility of using SMS to find out which machines on our network use IE5.5 or IE6.0. Someone else will be pushing out the packets (security patch). I have no idea where to begin. Should I use a query or a collection? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Use a query based collection, then you can distribute the software package to the entire collection...

If you used a query, you would have to distribute one client at a time from the query results.
