Ok, I have been tasked with looking into testing some SIP phones.

CS1000E Rlse 6
Have 5 "Nortel SIP Lines” license
Signal server Rlse 6 (Linux base)
1140E with SIP firmware 3.2

I know there is some back end programming that is going to be done before I can begin testing the phone.

Can someone point me in the right direction on where we need to begin?

Thanks

2 ways to do it.

If you have SIP trunks, you have to register the phones as SIP ENDPOINTS in NRS

if you have SIP Phone licenses, you will need a SIPLINE Gateway server.... (not sure about requirements for this)

check which way you are going first.

No SIP line coming in at this time.

We were a traditional TDM shop that went to VOIP with the CS1000E upgrade.
Since Avaya is really pushing the SIP angle, my superiors wanted us to setup some SIP phones on the current switch to test.
Our former vendor (currently between) said we can do this with our current Signaling server, if we only are going to be doing a few.
I have managed to build a phone on the switch, but it is asking for a login ID. I do not know where to set this up on the back end.
Any thoughts

Thanks Gwebster

Everything I have found so far was for verison 7 or 7.5.

I thought Norte's site was bad, but Avaya's website seems worse.

When navigating the support site, use the pulldown menu to choose the release that you are looking for.

Ok I think that I hve the SIPL setup on the signaling server.

How ever I can not find a way setup the username, and passwords.

Can someone help on this?

if you are using element manager to add the phone the user name option shows up there and if you are using SIPLINE, then I think it uses the SCPW for the password

Station Control Password

If you don't have it setup on the system
LD 15
under FFC_DATA
SCPL need it set to the length of the password (setup once and if you want to change that later, you have to reboot PBX)

and configure DFLT_SCPW to NO

remember if you are deploying SIPLINE on it's own server:

1 Linux base
2 Deploy SIP LINE app
3 Configure SIP LINE
4 Sync Node for SIP LINE server

That worked!

Thanks Trition101. I knew it was going to be something simple that I over looked,

Much appreciated
