Hi all,
I'm relatively new to PIX configuration. In a test lab I am using a PIX515E with 6.3-4 code on it (I don't yet have the extra RAM to go to 7.0). I was wondering, is there no way to make the inside interface respond to an echo request from the outside? I've tried setting up the appropriate access lists and routes, but I cannot seem to get a response from the interface itself. I can get a response from the outside interface, as well as from devices that are beyond the inside interface, but not from the interface itself.
Thanks in advance and sorry if this is a rather basic question that I should know!

No you can not ping the inside interface from the outside. The same goes the opposite, you can not ping the outside interface from the inside.

This may change in the 7.0 code, but I wouldn't hold your breath on that.
