Hello,
I am a system admin but have the need to learn perl in order to modify scripts I use with many clients in the Siebel application realm. So I am asking what is a good resource to begin learning pearl?

Thanks,
Will

I suggest you get the latest version of the Perl BookShelf Reference on CD. 6 or 7 perl books including programming Perl, Learning Perl, and the Perl Cookbook.

While I don't think the perl documentation is the best resource to learn perl from scratch, there is a lot of great and indepth information that comes with perl and can be read using perldoc. Its also all online:

A book I found personally very helpful years ago was Perl 5 by Example which is available online these days:

also has an extensive tutorial section.

Just Google "Perl tutorial". You'll get a huge smorgasbord of stuff, with different approaches and different perspectives.
