I've recently taken over an IT Department for a small firm that has a Nortel Norstar system. My experience lies heavily in Telrad and Lucent full blown PBX's. I've never used a key system before and am having an issue I need help with. I have users who have internal DN's, but the external DID doesn't ring that extension (when calling the DID, the line just rings endlessly). I'm a COMPLETE newbie in regards to Nortel and have no idea how to associate a specific DID with a DN. Can someone give me the quick and dirty way to associate (or check the association of) a specific DID with a DN?

TIA

First you must assign a line to that DN. Then on the DN you want that line to appear or appear/ring. Then on that line there is option under trunk/line data alled rec'd #: set that to the ported digits from your provider.

Or if you have the MICS 4.x book it is page 251.

Thanks for the post, Harry. When I took over this system, there were no books - they had been tossed by the previous IT Manager as he thought they would never be needed again. After I saw your post, I got in touch with a friend of a friend who could make me copies and went from there. The information was right where you said it would be and it helped point me in the right direction.

The problem was that a consolidation was made when the company moved to a new building, and the Rec'd# was not the same as the PrimeSet (still on an old DN). I would have had no idea how to find the target lines in the OS without the books and without your response.

Thanks again!!
