New to indesign, need a hand

Hi there I am new to indesign, having a blast using it. I made a newsletter from one of the templates, but when I went to send it to the printers they indicated it needed to be reformatted to 11x17 paper, apparently the program is telling it that its 8.5x11

Questions are :
Can i change the out put simply without having to redo the entire newsletter, and if so how please ?

Any help you could offer me in this would be greatly appreciated ..

I want the newsletter on 11x17 double sided.

right now its printing each page as a 8.5x11 and i need to
find out if there is a simple way to have indesign turn it from 4 pages 8.5x11 to 2 pages 11x17 without having to start all over from the template.

Sorry, or to just simply be able to export it in pdf as 2 pages 11x17 1,4 and 2,3

Again, that's the printer's job. ALL letter sized books are printed on 11X17. They're imposed by the printer and run. any printer who cannot do this, should not be accepting such work.

If you must, just create a new 11X17, 2 page document in landscape. If you used the normal 1/2 in. margin all around in your first one use the same in the 11X17. Make it 2 columns with a 1 inch gutter. Draw a 7/5 X 10 frame in the right column. Select All from pg1 of your doc and paste into that frame. Repeat with p.4 on the left side. On the next page repeat the above with pgs 2&3, putting 2 to the left.

If you are using ID CS2, you can do the imposition yourself very easily. Imposition is the name given to re-ordering the pages from readers spreads to printers spreads. Look for the plug-in called InBooklet.

Yes, I am using Indesign cs2 for windows.

Unfortunately your much more advanced than I, I am unsure how to do what you are tlaking about, would you mind terribly explaining it ?

I don't have CS2 at home where I am now (I have it at work), so cannot give precise instructions, but from memory when I did it using ID2 and even back to Pagemaker days, is that you lay out your publication in normal readers spreads (i.e. 1, 2, 3, 4 etc). Run a Preflight, just to make sure you haven't got any missing links etc, then do a 'save as' (which will get rid of any accumulated garbage after using 'save' several times).

Then go to the File menu, choose InBooklet and (probably) choose to 'create new document' (that way, you don't overwrite the original layout if something goes wrong). The document should now appear in printers spreads.
