New to CM - Factory default kit

Im currently studying the design & installation of CM so am very new to this, we have a S8500B and a G650 gateway in our office dem suite to play around with.

i want to factory default the server anyone know the easiest way of doing this

You need to have root rights to remove the database files. These are located in /etc/opt/defty and are called XLN1 and XLN2. If you can remove those one's you are going to set the system to factory default.

From the maintenance web interface you can also do a restore to defaults, only this only clears the IP Addresses and not the translations.
 
i will probably just try the 2nd option 1st...thanks...i will investigate further

its proving very difficult, the kit the office have bought for me to learn on has had the passwords changed so cant log on through the console and the ip address changed so am struggling to do anything with it at all..

Maybe a complete start over is a good lesson too
Then you can give it your own password

sorry we dont have anything like that setup its all just sat in a rack in our dem room at the moment...

sorry for my ignorance but is there any guides to doing option 1 myself?

Without login or passwords, modem or network connection, you would need a usb CD drive and a CD with a compatible CM software version iso image on it. Boot your server with this CD and it will wipe it clean and install a new version of CM. You should then be able to get in with craft and root logins.

Just reload the server. Put the CD in the drive and boot the machine. Connect PC to services port using 192.11.13.5 and telnet to 192.11.13.6. Follow the instructions.

I can't get to the web interface on the standby server from the network ,was able to before reboot. Now can't connect to it.Tried resetting CM on standby server ,still cannot connect.any ideas ?
