We have currently have a Citrix box and an Win 2003 SBS server on one site. We have 35 users and it works fine. We are looking at more robus solution and want to have another server at another site (50ft accros the road). Our IT suppliers have suggested converting the Citrix box(more ram and discs added) to Citrix and SBS hosted by VMWare (VM1)and adding another new Citrix/SBS box at the second site (VM2). Software from another PC will take snapshots of the VM1 and if problems arise then this will be used to use VM2 as the main server. They said that two SBS servers cannot exist on the same domain?? Cost £££££.

Another supplier has told me that two or more MS Win2003 R2 can sync data seamlesly without the need of VM's, (is this true) but I'd have to downgrade from SBS. They quoted much lower cost. How would this work with Citrix?

Wel firstly two SBS cannot live in the same domain.

However there is no reason for other servers to live in th domain.

So either have 1 SBS + 2 separate Citrix, or 1 SBS/Citrix + 1 other Citrix.

I need to split the risk but still share the SBS from two locations. Is it possible to have two domains? If so what are the implications?

Yes two domains is a possibility. However what you are trying for is 1 (SBS + Citrix) + 1 (Citrix). The Citrix risk will be split, but not the SBS.
