New SIP trunks keep disappearing, calls hit system but get busy tone

One of our customers has an SV9100 CP10 system which has been working on ISDN30 trunks for years. We have just added SIP trunks to the system as well, although the ISDN will remain in place for now. One of our engineers attended the site and installed the GPZ-IPLE VOIP card on the CPU. I have remotely installed the licenses (they 5103 VoIP Channel License x 16 and 5001 IP Trunk license x 12 installed) and have configured the system for SIP in exactly the same way as we've configured other customer sites.

I tell the system that there are 10 SIP trunks starting at trunk port 41, although the customer only has 8 trunks on their SIP service. I've assigned the first 8 SIP trunks as trunk group 2, with the remaining 2 assigned to trunk group 100 (not used). On the Blades page in PCPro I see the SIP field under the Trunks section populate with the 10 new trunks. I've got a test DDI set up on the SIP and I've pointed that directly at an extension via the DDI routing table. I call the test number and I get busy tone. The same happens wherever I point the test DDI. I know the calls are hitting the NEC because our network engineers were observing the Cisco router whilst I made test calls, and also I connected to the debug terminal in PCPro and could see the calls being rejected with an error message I've not seen before. The SIP service provider took a look from their side and have advised me that the calls are being rejected with a "Busy Here" error message.

I pulled a download of the database again and the Blades page no longer shows the 10 new SIP trunks that were definitely showing there before. I have repeated this many times - set the trunks, take a download, they disappear. Rebooting the system makes no difference.

Below is a screenshot of the Blades page with the SIP trunks showing, in case there's anything wrong I've overlooked there that you can spot, and below that is a sample output from a failed test call I've grabbed from the debug terminal (phone numbers redacted, replaced with xxx).

Any suggestions you may have will be very much appreciated.

Thanks,

Dave

Daddybadger, there's nothing at all showing in 10-54 but then again there's nothing in 10-54 when I check various other SIP-enabled SV9100's that we look after, either. I did at one point place the quantity of licenses into this form but that didn't seem to make any difference so I took them out again, as nowhere else was showing anything in that form.

I'm not sure about Feature + 4, I'm not present on site so I've just called them and asked somebody there to press it and take a picture of the display for me. I expect to receive the picture shortly and will add it to this post.

Thanks

Edit - Feature + 4 output is below:

I have just taken another fresh download of the system database and under 10-68 "IP Trunk Availability" there are once again none at all showing, whereas there were 10 showing just over an hour ago before I went for a break.

Well, you can always turn on the temp licenses to make sure. You need a resource license for any port. Never heard of 64 standard ports on an SV9100 here in the states. You also have to have ALL resources for teh qny you are adding. Say you add a 16DLCA card you need all the ports avail (16) to activate the card.

You will need to assign resources to iple in 10-54 although the display shows bone available.

Daddybadger, I have added the licenses in 10-54 (5103 VoIP Channel License x 16 and 5001 IP Trunk license x 12) and it made no difference. I found that there were no SIP trunks showing again under 10-68 so I added them in yet again, and still no difference. I have just rebooted the system and it's still the same unfortunately.

CoralTech, I've just checked the 60 day demo license and it says 0 days remaining although I'm pretty sure I've seen somewhere there are ways to start a 10 day (or similar) license. Off the top of my head I don't know how to do that though.

Thinking about it, we've got another SV9100 installation out in the field that was done about 3 years ago and the SIP has never worked at all, at least not for incoming calls. Same issue, incoming gets busy tone. We've got lots which do work ok, so I'm not sure what's different about these couple that don't. I thought it might be because it's got a PVA card installed (IP address conflict issues etc, maybe) but calls are hitting the system though so I've kind of ruled that out.

Thanks

End user has just done another Feature 4, results are as follows:

So it's gone from 008 to 016. I'm not sure quite what that relates to.

64 ports relates to a UK system. What do you have in 10-68 you should be able to change the NONe in the drop down box to SIP and start port to 41 and the number of ports to 16. Pic of a known working system.

Daddybadger, I put the details into 10-68 exactly as you mentioned, it takes the new settings ok, it stays like that for about 10 minutes (estimate) and then it disappears again. I take a download, I go into 10-68, and the settings are gone. I have done it at least 10 times and the same happens. It just disappears again.

These are the settings about 30 minutes ago:

And these are the settings just now, after another download:

I think this may well be a licencing issue. Can you confirm what licences you have, if the SIP trunks are still showing with ??? then they are not registered.

Daddybadger, 5103 VoIP Channel License x 16 and 5001 IP Trunk license x 12. The Blades page says "281 ports of 1472 are used", and Feature Activation says System Port licenses = 277.

208 + 32 = 240 + 30 + 16 = 240 + 46 = 286 ports in use according to your image. Whats in the error log?

Nothing really about ports in the error log that I can see.

I've just taken this information from the LMS:

LMS_screenshot_rzemd0.jpg

I've seen in the comments above that all the ports on a card have to be licensed in order to activate the card. So this customer has 8 SIP trunk licenses, I know that it's probably different licenses for SIP trunks and system ports, but how many port licenses are required for the GPZ-IPLE VoIP card? I've seen conflicting information online.

I'm tempted to generate another demo license via the LMS and apply it to the system just to see if that makes things work - presumably I can turn the demo off again once I've proven it either way?

Demo licence will work for 30 days I think. You get 4 sip with iple plus the 8 is 12. Each channel needs an 0300 licence. I've got a licence manual that explains it better if you would like a copy. The 213+64=277 ports max even with 12 sip you only have is 282 ports, so to me it's the 0300 licence that's required. Normally it would show an error so a bit confused.

Thanks daddybadger. Their ISDN30 is being ceased in the next few days so we'll look to have the card physically removed from the system if the customer doesn't like the idea of paying for the extra licenses. I would tend to agree with you that this does look like an underlying licensing problem.

I have just generated one of the 2 available demo licenses for this customer site via the LMS, have downloaded the license file and have tried to apply it to the SV9100 but it failed to apply. The hardware key is correct so I'm not sure why it's failed. I just get "Set license failed". There's nothing in the logs about it.

That was going to be my next step CoralTech , but I'm quite far away from the physical system so I'm going to have to talk the end user through doing it via a handset. Should be easy enough, it just worries me they then know how to log in and fiddle with things. Maybe I'll set a temporary password for them to use just once then change it back after.

CoralTech, I've tried to talk the end user through the programming but oddly 90-37 does not seem to exist in telephone programming. He's logged in with an account that's IN level (I changed the password on the account we usually use to a temporary one which I have since changed back to what it should be). He gets as far as 90 but there's no 37. He scrolled through the options and it jumps from 36 to 38.

Under 90-02, the user account for which I changed the password is definitely Installer level:

I'm not sure therefore why the guy on site cannot see option 90-37. Has NEC moved/removed it from newer versions, maybe? Just for clarity, he is using a digital handset, enters # * # * followed by the password which is accepted, then he's in programming ok, then he enters 90 37 but because 37 doesn't exist it just goes to 90 01 (Install Year I believe).

Any further thoughts on this one please, anybody? On why the 10 day license isn't available to activate from handset programming?

Thanks
