CS1000 7.5 1140e IP phones
Is there a way to force the 1140e IP phones to get a new IP address? We have some that still have an address from the data side and they need an address from the voice side so the location will work correctly.
Are you using Static IP addresses or DHCP? If it's pulling from the Data Side range of IP's then it sounds like it is in the wrong VLAN. Are you using Full or Partial DHCP?
It will pull the Correct VLAN if using full dhcp, otherwise you will have to put in the correct vlan in the set. Is there a DHCP scope built for this VLAN?
All but a hand full of the phones are correct. I called our maintenance provider this morning and they didnt know of a way to force the 1140 to get a new IP address. So for the few that were wrong I did the **73639MAC## and when they came back up I put the TN back in and they picked up a correct IP address.
IP addresses are doled out by your DHCP server. You'll need to go there, and change the lease time for addresses in the DHCP scope for your IP phones. Doing a release/renew doesn't change the address unless you're doing so past the lease expiration. I believe that by default, on a Microsoft DHCP server, the lease length is 8 days. You can adjust it to your needs.
Thanks for the responses. I have reset the phones that didn't have the correct address and they picked up a new (correct) address this time. So far no more have shown up wrong so hopefully all is ok.
