I am trying to setup a new rule in outlook but am getting the following error when trying to activate the rule.

One or more rules could not be uploaded to Exchange Server and have been deactivated. This could be because some of the parameters are not supported or there is insufficeient space to store all of yoyr rules.

I only have two rules I am using exchange 2000 on a 2000sbs server.

ANy ideas!
Cheers

Did anyone ever answer this one for you? I'm having the same problem, and can't find a solution anywhere.

DCP I managed to fix it myself in the end. Let me have a think as to how I got round this. Expect a reply shortly chap.

I am also having this problem. I get the following message "one or more of the rules could not be uploaded to exchange server and have been deactivated. This could be because some of the parameters are not supported or there is insufficient space to store rules."
I have no rules setup so it must be the format. It started after i upgraded from exchange 5.5 to exchange 2000. I used the MDBVU32 utility to clean all the rules out and start from scratch. I am at a loss right now. Any help is appreciated.

I have a user who is using Windows XP Pro with Outlook 2002 to connect to an Exchange Server 5.5 with the latest patches. Due to some corruption on the server we had to back up the Information Store, restore it to another server, then move it back to the original server. Once we did all that the rules he had set up stopped working. He would get a error stating "The rules on this machine do not match the rules on your Exchange server". No matter which set of rules he chose to keep, he continued to get this message. I used the Mdbvu32 utility to remove his rules. That got rid of his error, but whenever he tries to set up a new rule and enables it, he gets the "One or more rules could not be uploaded to Exchange Server and have been deactivated" error. I am at a loss on what to do. Does anybody have any ideas? Thanks.

We just went to Exchange Server 2003. My manager and I have the exact same problem. I actually used the mdvbu32.exe to delete all of my rules, so now I have none. I am still getting the error when I try to create one little rule! How frustrating! Been searching MS. Any suggestions would be great!!

I just got mine fixed! Yippee! I deleted all of my rules with the mdbvu32.exe and had to delete all of my out of office rules also. Then, I imported my rules! Presto! It works again! I know that my manager is still having problems, but I think that is because he has a lot more and longer distros to fwd to.

Same here - Outlook XP with Exchange 5.5 - I have noticed that in my case the rule (which is a simple if from a forward to b,c,d) only fails if there are 3 or more people in the "forward to" list. Plenty of space on the mailbox and tried it on a couple of different client machines. I dont want to recreate the mailbox unless I really have to....I'm going to keep trying but if anyone gets an answer I'd love to see it!
