2 month ago our we installed MiVB 8.0 SP3 PR1
As it looks like a phone model we are using is missing.
Our supplier says we need to redeploy an OVA for the 2 servers in the cluster.
Is this really the way to go...?

What will be the implication for the users in a 24/7 setting when using (Ascom OEM) dects, hardphones, MiCC, MiVoice Business Consoles...?

Which phone Model?

They are not necessarily listed in order.

You mean in the dropdown list?
I have seen that before and i think a reboot fixed it for me.
I think i did not see the correct phone model within MiCollab if i recall right.
I used a template which i changed and then it was gone.
Recreating the template also worked i think.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

@kwbMitel, it's a 5614 (Mitel dect, Ascom OEM)
@tlpeter, yes, the dropdown menu. And uh, oops, when checking: in MiVB it's visible as "5604/5614 SIP". It's not selectable in the MiCollab

I beleive the 56XX phones simply use the Generic SIP type.

I only have experience with the 5602 however.

That's correct, but I don't want to use generic sip. You can then hijack the account. Simply use a sip client app.
So I prefer the correct model.

If micollab needs a phone model upgrade, is that also a new ova, or simply a little update file?

Strange that micollab and mivb don't have the same models.

Ok,

I just checked my MCD vs MiCollab for the 5614

On the MCD it is listed as one entry 5604/5614 SIP

On the MiCollab we have 5604 but not 5614

What this says to me is that the 5604 type is good for both.

Additionally, I tested by creating a phone using the 5604 type on the MiCollab and on the MCD it shows up as type 5604/5614 SIP

I believe that is what you need is it not?

Now i understand meneerB.
Yes you do need to deploy a new OVA but i think you can select the current running MiCollab server to perform the upgrade.
It will even shutdown the old MiCollab and use the same IP addresses in the end (you do need a spare one to start with)
Make a snapshot of the current MiCollab so you can always go back if something fails.

Hi guys,
Thanks. That's what I needed😀
Great forum to learn nice new stuff!

To get familiar with these upgrades:
From your experience how long is the micollab service unavailable to the users?

The same with MiVB, what's the impact for the users? (See my initial post for the setup we have)

To have our site up to date (again, in a 24x7 operation) how often would you recommend to upgrade? (We have a maintenance contract, so it's 'free')

MiCollab needs some time to migrate to the new server but i do not know how long it takes.
I would just give them a time span where it is not available.
If they run 24.7 then there is no time to do this unnoticed.
If you have a second MiVb then you can force the IP phones to the second controller (you ofcourse need a second MBG with a SIP trunk for that)

@meneerB

Are you saying you do not see the 5604 type phone in MiCollab?

See my notes above.

@kwb, i can see the 5604.
I'll just use that one for the 5614.
I will check it next week

On the MCD the 5604 and 5614 are combined as a single set type.

Using 5604 invokes the 5614 set type as well.

You should be good.

Thx all. It's working as described above.
