Upgraded my friends computer with a SYNTAX 1.6 AMD XP2000+. Loaded Windows2000 and put in 512Meg DDR2100 Jet RAM. Basically this PC's purpose is to Play Everquest and view/edit pictures and photographs. LviewPro.exe generates errors. and I have to restore the executable to Everquest every 3-4 times I play it. Have loaded the whole game 4 times. but often a program's executeable fails to load. Within a week NTOSKRNL will fail and ill have toreload the file or OS. 5th time so far, was using a ghost image to restore win2k, but have totally reinstalled Win2000 2 more times. Same difference. Am trying a new stick of memory. I get a bad feeling about enabling the onboard devices for AGP/IDE/USB/NET/Sound. Otherwise it is a clean install. Have everquest on the D: drive. Using WesternD 13G & 40G. Put in a different stick of SDRAM will be trying it out, not sure if damage is done to the operating system from previous memory being present during initial OS load. still wouldn't load LviewPro. executeable generated errors. No damage on Windows2000 disk. The previous guts of the computer worked flawlessly.
Is the executeable generating errors a processor/board problem or memory problem?

Try disconnecting some of the devices to check that
it isnt the PSU that gets overloaded.

Things that can be disconneted:
CDRW (25watts)
CDROM(25watts)
PCI card ,like ethernet (5watts pr. card)

Check the PSU wattage requirements here:

Other things
Adjust the cpu core voltage up by 0,25v
Some motherboard undervolts the cpu if set to auto.
Give the memory some more voltage ( + 0,1~0,2 ,not over 2,8v)

what do you mean by "restore the executable to Everquest"?

as in I make a backup of the executeable Everquest.exe after all the patching is done. and then restore it. The last time I did it I noticed the file size was about 1K different. Changing memory did not have an effect on the computers performance. I haven't tried changing core voltage yet I will let you know.

er restore the executeable after getting the 'executeable has generated errors and will be shut down message'. Since it is basically the Everquest client within the executeable. It worked fine on his computer, before the upgrade, and was still installed on the D: drive. However now it fails constantly even after a few complete game reloads. He has a 400W Powersupply now, if his 300W from his old can handle the floppy, 2HD's and 2CD's then his new 400W PSU can too.
I will try to restore fail safes, and check voltages on CPU and Memory.

Is the motherboard equipped with a ATX12v(P4) connection
if it is connect it to PSU .It improves mb stability.

It was a virus... 2 virus's Pinfi and Jeefo viruses infecting the executables. Its a real pain. Microsoft seems like they wanted everyone to be able to download what they need from the internet. But the second I connect to internet I got the Welchia and blaster viruses, and when I had patched those, I told this guy to get himself a virus scanner. Which expired before the upgrade. Finally a month later hwen he got his virus protection, he had about 150 infected files mostly the W32.Pinfi virus. Needless to say I changed out his board with an MSI K7N Delta board before I installed his virus scanner... I still wonder about the board though. It took all of 2 minutes to enable the integrated devices on the MSI board and 10 minutes to do the same on the SYNTAX board. I'm virus scanning their crappy Board Devices CDROM. Thank you for your input. I will be looking at this thread once I put that board in my proxy server, sigh. But I bet my AMD Duron should not be touched its been reliably overclocked for about 2 years. Thanks again.

Unfortunately as I praise MSI for an as yet unbroken record in my experience, their network card dies after 2 weeks. Sigh, everything breaks, there are no guarantees. If there is a broken motherboard to get, I am the lucky one. I suppose I learn a thing or two about motherboards by having the broken one all the time. I still don't know that much. I did everything i knew to do with network cards, including pinging the loopback address 127.0.0.1 with the good ol' Unknown Host message. Took it to a local computer dealership(where I bought the motherboard) and they proceeded to play around with spyware etc. I expect another board and to not have to payfor the bench fee. All motherboards fail inevitably, their are little timebombs. Your lucky if you can change before your board goes!

It was software i refused to reghost that time(as an answer for all sorts of problems) and that's what it needed. Just shoot me.
