It will be interesting to see who Sun aims there db at. What platform9s) will it be released for and what kind of performance it has.

I think Sun is headed for an uphill battle with the big 3 (namely Oracle, IBM and Microsoft). They'll need something to make them stand out and for users to take notice of a new db.
