I had some issues with my system that a bunch of us concluded was a dying CPU, so I bought a new motherboard and CPU (Abit AV8 VIA Socket 939 ATX Motherboard and AMD Athlon 64 3400+ Processor) and installed them with all my old cards and what not. My motherboard has a lit up led power indicator and as far as we can tell everything is set up properly but when the power on switch is pressed nothing whatsoever happens. Does anyone have any clue what could be wrong. Thanks.

First thing to do would be thin the system out so troubleshooting it is easier. Here are a few steps to try out.

Boot the system with just the necessary items. What I mean is use just the following components in the system, leave everything else out of the system and/or unplugged:

1. PSU
2. Motherboard
3. CPU
4. Memory
5. Video Card

Leaving those 5 items in, boot the system up. If system boots, continue to add items one at a time to narrow down overloading it all at once. If it fails to boot, here are some steps to take to troubleshoot:

1. Make sure all components are firmly seated in their slots.
2. Make sure all electrical connections are making good contact with their respective connectors.
3. Try replacing each item one at a time to determine what the problem item could be.

If all steps are done and system still does not seem to boot, remove from case(if not already) and placed motherboard on a non-static conductive surface and try again. Just a few other things to keep in mind:

1. Look at all parts to ensure nothing looks damaged.
2. Check for any type of compatibilty issues between devices
3. Before installing parts, make sure to take necessary steps to statically discharge yourself.

Let us know if any of this helpes you out...

Didn't know AMD made a Athlon64 3400 for socket 939?
As I understood it the 3400 was only available for the older 754 platform?
