I've just replaced my motherboard and CPU. Now when I turn the power on I have no video. I've tried using a another video card and same thing. I see the harddrive light, but do not hear it starting windows like it use to. Also, after the power is on I push the button on my CD rom and it doesn't open. Seems no power is going to that.

Any ideas at all! I'm desperate!

Doublecheck that the motherboard is configured properly for your cpu. Make sure you're using the correct memory for the motherboard you purchased. Double check the mounting of the motherboard to be sure you haven't shorted something out.

AGP or PCI video?

My MB was set to operate with an AGP card, so had to boot with cheap AGP card to change bios to a PCI card.

Checked the MB and is correctly configured for CPU. I had to buy DDR memory with the MB because I only had SDram in my old MB.

Book says the MB will automatically detect the CPU speed. My video card is a AGP card.
I get no beeps on boot up. I just hear the fan on the CPU start (so I know I'm getting power to the MB)

Removed everything except HD, VideoCard, MB and CPU.

Nothing. I've never seen this before.

Ok, what about the small power connector which I believe has 4 terminals plugging into the MB by the CPU.

The last time I saw that symptom, cpu was the culprit. If the video or mem was a problem, you should at least get a beep code. Since that wasn't mentioned, I suspect we're not getting that far in the initialization. Of course, we can't discount the mb as the source of the problem either but, cpu would be my first shot at it.

Look in the motherboard manual for the method of clearing CMOS so you know you are starting with default values. It usually involves moving a jumper on the motherboard, and some boards require removing the battery too. Unplug the power cord before doing anything as all newer boards have power applied to them even when turned off.
