Hi,

This is probably a stupid question, but how do I make a new message on our embedded voicemail?

It's an IP500 version 5.0(26) with embedded voicemail. We have a "time profile", that someone created many years ago, but we have no idea how to record a new message for our main office number (I'm guessing it works different from when you need to make a personal voicemail for your own personal number).

I'm sorry if this is a stupid question or if there's tons of info lacking. I'm not familiar in anyway with the embedded voicemail, since we mainly use Voicemail Pro :)

Thanks in advance,
Thomas

go into the programming and look in the AutoAttendant programming.
it is usually *8401 (*8402/3/4 and so on) to rerecord the company greetings, but there are many ways to screw up programming and I have seem some "creative" programming where these numbers did not apply.
when you dial the *8401 you can listen by pressing 1 (I definitely would do that before recording over it) so you can make sure that you are in the correct greeting.

Hi Joe,

Apologies for the late reply. We tried a few things over the last couple of days (always fun to mess with IP Office in the weekend :<), but no luck.

I tried dialing *8401, but nothing happens. Which entry should I look for? I have a short-code called *91 that goes to "Record Message", but that doesn't work neither :(

Which type of message, it is not clear in your query.

a. Voicemail message?
b. Automated message/recording?

a. you need to enable it on every user (user profile), caller can able to leave new voicemail recording.

b. you need to create an entry at your automated attendant (as Joe is saying) before these *8401/*8402.. will then be appeared.

Sorry, I'll try to explain it a bit more in details.

We have a "Time Profile" to control our opening hours. When calls are made outside the opening our to our "main number" (extension 5800), we would like a message to be played (something like "We're closed. Opening hours are bla.bla).

Where can I find the "Autoattendant"?

Sorry, that was embarrasing. The AutoAttendant is empty, which could explain why it hasn't been working. I'll get on it and make a post if I encounter further issues.

Thank you all for the help! :)

thanks for the stars we love the colour pink :)

your lines might get answered by a mailbox or worse line providers call answer service good luck.

Yeah, I tested it earlier. It just says "There's no one available to answer your call". A bit embarrasing that we actually have had that running for a few years :/

sounds like the default greeting of a mailbox
