New Memory / Now finder quits constantly...

I recently bought new memory mods for my old Mac Clone...Umax c600 / 240 MHZ. Now my finder quits all the time (Errors Type 2,3,11 and even 1) Also my browsers quit constantly (IE, Netscape and Opera) same errors. I tried to max the ram out by adding 2x64mb sticks. The board has a built in 16mb which gives a poss max of 144, which is what it shows, but... Could the memory register in the system, but still be wrong or faulty?
