Hi all, I hope you can help!

I work at two different sites and use notes 5.09 at both sites (using the same id and mail file). Problem is I do not receive a new mail notification OR audible notificatio when an email comes through at either site (I have to press f9 to read nw emails).

When I change Id's to anybody elses - the new mail and audible notifications work fine.

Audible notification IS ticked as is new mail notification. The refresh rate is 1 minute.

Things I have already tried:

Replaced mail design.
uninstalled and re-installed notes client (worked for a day or two then topped again).
unticked audible notification and new mail notification, closed notes. opened notes, ticked them and closed notes.

can anybody help?

regards....

Karl

Have you checked your mailfile entry in the location document? You can view this by going to File, Mobile, Edit Current Location. Under the Mail tab, there's an entry called Mail File. Make sure that is set to the correct database name.
To verify the database name and path, you can go to the workspace and right-click the mail database. Select Database, Properties. Whatever is under Filename needs to be set as mail file entry in the location document.

Hope this helps.

Nope, the location is definitely set up correctly.

I'm stumped!

Look in the NOTES.INI file for a variable called NewMailSeqNum. Decrease the number of the NewMailSeqNum or put REM in front of this statement and see if that helps.

Tell you what mate, I dunno how you knew that but your spot on!!!

Your help was much appreciated. I thank you sir!

*takes a bow*

In addition to MarkhP's reply, you could also try to remove the number, so that it just reads "NewMailSeqNum=" (without the quotes). That should reset the counter.

Actually I'm curious as to what I've actually done to solve the problem.

What does the variable NewMailSeqNum tell Notes to do??

Mine was set to 31 before I added the rem to the front

NewMailSeqNum is simply a counter that gets incremented each time a new mail is received.
PS: As Tourist said, you can remove the number altogether or even delete the line. Notes will recreate it at startup.
