have just fitted new motherboard and processor when trying to install xp i am getting message UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_ERROR
what have i done wrong

Can you post the exact full error message because there are several similar (with different solutions) that might apply.

"STOP 0x000000ED UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME" Error Message When You Restart Your Computer or Upgrade to Windows XP
