So right now, each department in our company has their own site where of course we see things like calendar, announcements, etc.
Beyond changing things like the layout or colors, what do other do to spice up these pages?
I was able to integrate a snowfall thingamabob for the holidays, but thats over.
Im just looking for ideas or changes that would make users want to use sharepoint instead of making it just an access poitn to other things. I want to see them want to login and get something from it.
Kinda vague but maybe others have sites I can visit to get ideas.

Robmazco,
I've experienced what you have describe ... mmm about a year ago, and a few ideas will be instead of trying to shoot for a global use, try small goals, small victories (keeping in mind the idea or "your idea of where you want to take your enterprise to"). Target each division as single and pitch the idea of using Workspaces for their meeting purposes - you will find yourself with the sensation that you have become a salesman lol but is ok, whatever it takes right?!, another thing is to make them realize that a sharedrive is not the idea of collaboration - perhaps you need to start giving some classes on Knoeledge Management (just to open their eyes and make then understand that their is far beyond things they can do with sharepoint). Projects, workflows, automations things that will easy their job, bring important information to their finger tips by setting alerts and teach them how, rss feeds alll this is a cool stuff they don't know.
Hope this gives you at least one idea.

I've also found that showing users the content editor web part helps to spruce up the site. Because it has a rich text editor, it works much like MS Word. This gives users some flexibility in how they can lay out data and images and keep content fresh.

just a thought.
