I just purchased a 400 GB Simpletech Hard Drive. When I connect it and check out the properties it shows that 37.2 GB have already been used! >:-< Nothing on the Drive yet and nothing in the Recycling Bin. Does anyone know what causes this? Thanks.

Which OS are you using? Did the PC's BIOS recognize the drive properly? Is the drive partitioned? Partitioning will take ups some overhead, but 37gb is excessive.

Hi I am using Windows XP Pro. The Bios recognized and I am able to use it fine (Copy Files on and off). I am just now noticing that when I check out the properties the capacity is 400,085,811,200 bytes. So that would explain why I only have 372 GB. But why would it show 37 GB of used space and 372 GB free. Used Space should just be zero or small amount. And the free space should be 372, No? Thanks

In the end the capacity is 400,000,000,000 bytes. So I guess that I am getting what I payed for.
