Hi

I currently have 1 Front End server and 2 Back End servers. If I access the FE server via I get the default OWA homepage.

I've installed a new FE server (to replace the old one) and of I access it via I get a dialog window opening asking me for credentials. The windows says

"The server <servername> at <servername> requires username and password. Warning this server is requesting that your username and password be sent in an insecure manner (basic authentication without a secure connection)."

Anyone have any ideas as to how I stop this fromm happening.

Both FE servers have the same OS (and patches) and the same version of exchange.

Compare the IIS settings for ExchWeb between the old and new servers, including the various buttons on each tab. You'll find the settings that nee changed this way. BTW, I recommend using SSL, even if you use a locally generated certificate.

When all else fails, read the book!

Found the answer.

It was the fact that I hadn't enabled "forms based authentication" on the new FE server.
