Hello,

i have a problem:
Whenever I create a new folder, it is automatically write protected. I can do everything I want with the folder, EXCEPT, Im trying to install Oracle 9i and cant do so because it says that a folder is write protected.
When I clear the write protect check box, it is automatically checked again?!? I noticed the same effect on 3 other machines running XP with SP2, and on a Windows 2003 Server.
Any help?

Are you the Administrator of these machine?
If not then you do not have privilege to install software.
At least that's what I think.

my user account is in the Domain Admin Group, and I also tryed to use the local Administrator account of the machine, but I still cant change the permission

On XP all folders have the "read-only" box checked. You can uncheck it all you want, it will come right back on. You can pretty much ignore that. You need to be looking at the NTFS permissions on the security tab instead, to verify the account you're logged on with has full permission.
What folder is this? Program files? Or an oracle folder? If it's empty, I'd suggest deleting it and let the installer create it itself.
I've had similar problems with other apps, that would refuse to install if the folder name existed because of a previous version or something.
