We have a couple of XP PC users here, who from time to time when the create a a new folder on our windows 2000 shared network resource, the new folder is created with the name of fldr.

If the user try's to rename the folder then they are not allowed.

Strange this is that if the user repeats the process sometime after, they are allowed to create the new folder with it's required name.

If anyone can help I would appreciate it as I'm so far at a loss to why this is happening.

Cheers

See if this applies?

Why Windows' spelling is as good as mine I don't really know.

Are these users coming from separate machines, or are they sharing the same machine which might have a keyboard problem?

The term "fldr" gets a lot of mention in scripting code.

Maybe your Windows 2000 machine is trying to tell you something about its' age?

Hi pmaths, did you get to the bottom of why your fldr issue was happening ? I have the exact same thing on 1 XP machine (out of 600) on our win 2003 network..
Any ideas

Hi Glugger,

No, I've not managed to get the bottom of the issue. I only get this with two of our users, but it's in-frequent.

I've tried recreating with the users accounts and PC's, checked permissions etc... but no joy.

If you get anywhere, let me know...
