I have recently installed an exchange 2003 server in our exchange 2000 environment. I now want to remove the 2000 server. All user accounts have been moved. All replication of the public folders has been completed and the original server has been removed from replication. My problem is this. When I shut down the old exchange server serveral users can not access any public folders. As soon as the old server is backup, public folders are available. I don't know for sure how many users are effected but I know some people could still access them. What step did I miss?

I'm assuming you've done the adprep and forestprep before putting up the Exchange 2003 server. I believe you need to set the routing group member/master roles, as appropriate. Check that under the Routing Group>Members folder in the tree.

You need to go through MS KB 822931.

307917. It's an Exchange 2000 server they want to remove.

I found out that one sub-folder inside of the public folders still had the original server listed in the replicators tab. Once that was removed, the public folders was available for everyone. Thanks a lot for your quick response and help in this matter.....
