I have a new IP Office install running IP Office v2 version 9.0.3 0 build 941, I have deployed some 9611g phones with e129 sip phones, the problem is this, when a E129 sip phone dials voice mail (*17) there is a 6 to 7 second delay before voice mail is heard the same issue when dialing any outside telephone number. The 9611g and analog phones have no delay when calling an outside telephone number or voicemail, as this is my 1st install with these E129 phones is this normal or is there a setting somewhere to speed the call up. I have seen delays in the past calling telephone numbers but never *17 voice mail. Any help would be most appreciated and thank you for you time!

Press # after dialling, SIP has to send numbers to be dialled to the system much like an email, for example it'll be *17@192.168.42.1 so it waits for a period to allow you to dial any length of number, it isn't a live audio stream that it dials DTMF down as it is with IP, dig and analogue phones :)

Does the delay dissappear if you dial *17# ? Or external number followed by a #?
If so then it is the dial plan used by the phone, it is set to <P290>{[0-9*#]+}</P290> in the file e129cfg.txt.
Read this, page 32
try this to test : <P290>{*17 | [0*9*#]+}</P290> If you dial *17 it should dial it direct after pressing the 7

1st thing I did try was to hit the # key after dialing *17 as well as any external telephone number, which did not make a difference

After dialling doesn't "Done" or "Dial" appear on the screen? That's what you'll need to hit for now, until you edit the dial plan as mentioned above :)

I will try these suggestions and will get back to you, not on site yet but many thanks for your help gentlemen!

Intrigrant that did work for *17 what we did find was that for any outside call after dialing the telephone number you must hit the phone symbol at the bottom right of phone, # will give you a busy signal. All set thanks for the help guys!

Cool, having never used those phones I didn't know the specifics. But with SIP phones you pretty much always need to press a button to indicate dialling is complete, in many cases # does this too, not for E129s it seems :)

Also when any feature is activated from the e129 phone, system status does not see this, so troubleshooting any issue remotely could be quite challenging!

Then use monitor, I always use both.
To use the # as end of dial key enable it in the e129cfg.txt file : <P72>0</P72> must be <P72>1</P72>

The string <P72>0</P72> is in the file on line 45, change the 0 into 1, save store on SD and reboot the phone(s)
