I would like to change my configuration in my computer (Win98 – Desktop)
to the following set-up:

Primary Connector at the Mobo:

-1- Hard Disk Seagate,160 GB – Master
with C: partition for OS, Win 98 SE, and programs (80 GB)
and E: partitions for Data only (80 GB)

-1- Hard disk Samsung, 40 GB – Slave (No OS, but DOS
partition)
with D: partition (40 GB) for secure Backup only

Secondary Connector at the Mobo:

-1- DVD-Writer, LG, with Nero software, Drive F: - Master

-1- CD Writer, LG, Drive, Drive G: - Slave

This AMD-Computer is part of a small network (586 Desktop computer as the server with 3 local printer, shared) and
–1- Dell-Laptop with Windows-XP.

This AMD-Computer has a Athlon XP Processor
786 MB RAM

Do you think this will work ? Any constructive suggestions will be most welcome.
Thank you in advance: Charles.

Hi,

There shouldn't be a problem with your proposed setup, however most people would recommed that you don't have the ROM drives together for the purpose of copying disk to disk. Set one of the ROM drives with the 160Gb HDD. The easiest thing to do is to set all of the drives to cable select and then let the BIOST do the hard work.

Memo to GavinColes:
Thank you for your excellent suggestion. I will change it now to cable select and put the DVD Drive together with the 160 GB hard drive, so that I can make disk to disk copies.

Keep well: Charles.
